NOT LIKE THEM RAP N****Z: PLUG NOT A RAPPER GIVES LISTENERS MORE THAN ONE SIDE OF THE STORY

“Therapy Sessions,” “Weird,” “Been2long,” and “Pro Toolz” open different doors into the 2022 project

CRUSH MAGAZINE | MUSIC • IDENTITY • CRUSH LEGACY

There are moments for confidence. There are moments for questions. And there are moments when somebody says something in a song that makes you stop what you’re doing and listen a little closer.

On Not Like Them Rap N**z, Plug Not A Rapper gives listeners several ways into his world. The 2022 project features Party Plug Mikey, with Quinnie B also credited on “Been2long” and “Aint the Same.” Apple Music lists songs including “Therapy Sessions,” “Weird,” “Dead Presidents,” and “Pro Toolz” under the project.

“THERAPY SESSIONS”: MAKING ROOM FOR THE CONVERSATION

A title like “Therapy Sessions” gives the listener a different expectation from the moment it appears on the screen.

The CRUSH album overview presents the record as a conversation about vulnerability and emotional baggage. It’s a place to start for listeners who want to explore the more reflective side of the Plug Not A Rapper catalog.

The song also makes a point worth carrying beyond the playlist: people can be confident, ambitious, social, and still have things they need to work through.

“WEIRD”: THERE’S ROOM TO BE YOURSELF

Everybody has something that makes them different. The question is whether they feel comfortable enough to let people see it.

“Weird” is one of the album’s visual entry points, with a video linked from the CRUSH music library. Watch the visual, then move into the project and hear what surrounds it.

SOME CONNECTIONS DESERVE ANOTHER LISTEN

Time changes things. People move, conversations slow down, and sometimes the person you haven’t spoken to in a while comes back to mind.

“Been2long” brings Quinnie B and Party Plug Mikey into Plug Not A Rapper’s Not Like Them Rap N**z. CRUSH’s album overview describes the song in terms of distance and reconnection, making it a fitting selection for a reflective listening session.

Listen to “Been2long,” then check out “Aint the Same,” the project’s other song credited to Quinnie B and Party Plug Mikey. Together, they give listeners two opportunities to hear the collaboration.

DIFFERENT CAN BE THE POINT

“Normal” is a moving target. What feels unusual to one person might be exactly what makes somebody else memorable.

“Weird” appears on Plug Not A Rapper’s Not Like Them Rap N**z and has a video featured in the CRUSH music library. It’s a track for listeners exploring the individual personality behind the catalog—and for anybody who has ever felt like they didn’t quite fit the expectations around them.
