ONE ARTIST. THREE IDENTITIES. SAVANNAH AT THE CENTER.
Mr CRUSH, PartyPlugMikey, and Plug Not A Rapper carry different sides of George “Mikey” Turner III—and the hometown story behind CRUSH.
Before the stage names, there was Mikey.
Before the releases, videos, and festival imagery, there were Savannah neighborhoods, basketball teams, coaches, classmates, and relationships. There was a young person finding his place across communities that would become part of how he understood himself.
That is where the CRUSH story begins.
George “Mikey” Ransom Turner III presents his creative identity in a direct phrase: “One artist, three identities.” Mr CRUSH. PartyPlugMikey. Plug Not A Rapper.
Each name gives a different part of his personality room to lead. Together, they connect his music and public presence to a life rooted in Savannah.
A hometown made of people
For Mikey, telling the Savannah story means naming the people inside it.
His basketball memories include the Savannah Sixers and coaches Big Mark, Alameen, and Bobby; the Savannah Panthers and Coach Cutter; and Savannah Elite, with Dougy, Hines, Gordon, and Coleman.
Those names deserve space in the CRUSH legacy because they belong to the years before an audience knew the artist.
Youth basketball also provides a way into the larger story: the teams a child joins, the adults who guide him, and the friendships that carry beyond a season. Understanding Mikey requires spending time with those relationships, including the years before Calvary Day.
Cloverdale, Carver Village, Tatemville, and Cann Park also appear in his account of the world that shaped him. Their presence in his writing keeps his hometown geography close to the music.
For readers who know those places, the names may bring their own associations. For everyone else, they offer an invitation to look more closely at the Savannah behind the artist.
Mr CRUSH: the name across the vision
Mr CRUSH brings the artist’s larger creative world into focus.
Music, animated visuals, magazine features, and performance all have a place within that vision. The recurring name gives listeners and viewers a recognizable connection across different projects.
The ambition reaches beyond an individual release. Through CRUSH Magazine, Mikey is also making room for the people and communities behind his public identity. His own story becomes an entry point into a wider network of coaches, teammates, schools, neighborhoods, and shared experiences.
PartyPlugMikey: the host steps forward
PartyPlugMikey puts the social side of the artist at the front.
The name carries an invitation: come outside, join the crowd, participate. It suits music built around movement, memorable hooks, and moments an audience can answer together.
Savannah State homecoming belongs in that part of his story. Mikey identifies the university and its homecoming culture as important to CRUSH, and he has shared his experience performing on the main stage with his host and members of Omega Psi Phi.
That connection gives the performance a hometown setting with personal meaning. The artist onstage is also someone whose history intersects with the community gathered around it.
Plug Not A Rapper: a wider introduction
Plug Not A Rapper gives Mikey another way to introduce the music.
The name makes a statement before the first song plays. It leaves room for the performer, host, personality, and creative director alongside the recording artist.
Across all three identities, the central voice remains Mikey’s. Different names allow different moods and roles to come forward while keeping the catalog connected to the same person.
Giving the legacy its detail
Orange Crush is another subject Mikey places within the CRUSH legacy. Exploring that connection deserves its own careful treatment: his experiences, the people involved, and the memories that explain what it means to him.
The same care belongs to Savannah State, youth basketball, and the neighborhoods of his upbringing. Each has enough people and history to sustain more than a passing mention.
That is the purpose of this CRUSH Magazine series: to give those connections room, one story at a time.
Mr CRUSH, PartyPlugMikey, and Plug Not A Rapper are the names audiences encounter today. Following them back leads to Mikey—and to the Savannah people and places he wants readers to know.
