PARTYPLUGMIKEY: THE CROWD HAS A PART TO PLAY
Inside the social side of CRUSH—and the pursuit of songs people cannot help answering.
A crowd can listen to a song. It can also take possession of one.
Someone shouts the opening phrase. Friends answer. The hook comes around again, and people who missed it the first time already know what to do.
That is the kind of participation George “Mikey” Turner III is pursuing through PartyPlugMikey.
One of three identities alongside Mr CRUSH and Plug Not A Rapper, PartyPlugMikey puts the host at the center of the music. His attention turns toward the people in front of him: what will make them move, what they will remember, and which words they will want to shout together.
The invitation inside the name
“PartyPlugMikey” sounds like someone you would contact about where to go tonight.
That sense of connection suits the role Mikey is developing. The personality extends across hosting, performing, and making music for social settings. A song might first reach someone through headphones, but his ambitions for it include clubs, beaches, tours, festivals, and spring break crowds.
Those settings shape his creative priorities. He wants immediate energy, room to dance, and hooks simple enough for listeners to join without studying them.
Women enjoying themselves and participating in the music are central to that direction. In his search for instrumentals, Mikey repeatedly asks for stronger dance energy, heavy bass, and space for a memorable hook. The beat has to suggest movement before the writing begins.
A hook with a job to do
Mikey’s current songwriting focus is unusually specific: perfect the hooks.
For the eight-song project WHOM IS WHOME, he has prioritized melody, rhythm, memorability, and crowd response before moving deeper into verses. The ambition is a refrain that makes an impression on first contact and gives listeners a reason to return.
That focus is especially clear in “1-888 Party Plug,” a song built around a fictional party hotline.
“They party wit da plugs / Cuz our parties don’t stop” establishes the invitation. Mikey’s direction for its development is to make the exchange something people can shout at a party.
The hotline idea gives PartyPlugMikey a role listeners can recognize immediately. There is someone to call, an invitation to answer, and a phrase that can move between the performer and the room.
Savannah gives the host a setting
PartyPlugMikey also belongs within Mikey’s Savannah story.
He identifies Savannah State homecoming as important to the CRUSH legacy and has shared footage of his main-stage appearance with his host and members of Omega Psi Phi. In that setting, his identity as an entertainer meets his connection to home.
The performance gives a public view of the role behind the name: Mikey with a microphone, sharing a stage, contributing to a celebration.
The audience completes the moment
A hook can look promising on a page. The crowd supplies a different kind of evidence.
Do people answer? Do they remember the phrase when it returns? Does the energy hold beyond the first surprise?
Those are the questions surrounding PartyPlugMikey’s pursuit of new music. His creative direction places audience participation close to the beginning of the process.
The invitation is already in the name. The songs are being built to give people something to say back.
