THE CAMERA IS COMING OUTSIDE

CRUSH Magazine is spending Homecoming season where Homecoming actually happens.

There are easier ways to cover college Homecoming.

You could wait for the photographs.

Repost the outfits.

Write about the football score.

Compile a gallery on Monday morning and call it culture.

We’re not doing that.

CRUSH Magazine is going outside.

On Friday, October 2, the cameras arrive in Atlanta. A day later, they’re in Athens. The following weekend, they’re back in Atlanta for Morehouse and Spelman. Then Savannah. Then Jacksonville. Then Statesboro.

No giant traveling stage.

No attempt to turn somebody else’s Homecoming into our festival.

Just CRUSH entering the environment with cameras, microphones and curiosity.

We call them CRUSH Homecoming Pop-Ups.

The assignment is simple:

Find the people.

HOMECOMING DOESN’T BELONG TO THE FOOTBALL FIELD

The game matters.

But anybody who has actually experienced Homecoming knows that the scoreboard doesn’t explain the weekend.

Homecoming happens in parking lots.

On sidewalks.

At restaurants.

In hotel lobbies.

At tailgates.

At step shows.

Inside barbershops and beauty salons before anybody gets dressed.

In group chats asking where everybody is going.

At gas stations packed with cars from three states.

In somebody’s mirror while they’re deciding whether the first outfit is good enough.

Homecoming is the graduate who hasn’t seen his line brothers together in years.

It’s the freshman experiencing the spectacle for the first time.

It’s the woman who started planning Saturday’s outfit before September.

It’s somebody selling plates.

Somebody promoting an afterparty.

Somebody trying to get discovered.

Somebody who swore they weren’t coming this year and somehow ends up outside anyway.

Those are stories.

CRUSH Magazine wants those stories.

ATLANTA IS FIRST

Georgia State opens the run October 2.

Atlanta presents an unusual beginning because campus life and city life constantly overlap.

There isn’t a wall where Atlanta ends and the college experience begins.

Students are living inside one of America’s most recognizable Black cultural and entertainment centers.

That makes the first assignment bigger than photographing people wearing school colors.

What does Atlanta Homecoming culture actually look like in 2026?

Who has style?

Who’s creating?

What are students listening to?

Who owns a business already?

Who is making music nobody outside campus has heard yet?

Who’s funny?

Who’s interesting?

Who’s going somewhere?

CRUSH wants to know.

And then we’re driving to Athens.
