DASHEAN MAXWELL: NO. 00 IN THE SAVANNAH RECORD
A Panthers teammate remembered by Mikey Turner appears alongside familiar names in Savannah High’s 2011 tournament roster.
In George “Mikey” Turner III’s account of Coach Cutter’s Savannah Panthers, Dashean Maxwell belongs among the players he remembers as “all stars.”
An archived basketball publication adds a specific image to that introduction: Maxwell as a Savannah High senior, listed at center, wearing No. 00.
The 2011 GHSA quarterfinals edition published by Score Atlanta records his name as “Dasheen Maxwell.” On that same Savannah roster are James Sinclair and Alex Reid—two more players Mikey identifies in his Panthers recollection. (scoreatl.com)
The connection gives this part of the CRUSH story a useful point of focus: teammates whose names appear together across different chapters of their basketball lives.
A place in the frontcourt
The tournament publication lists Maxwell as a senior center under Savannah head coach Tim Jordan. Sinclair appears as a senior shooting guard, as does Reid. (scoreatl.com)
Those details establish distinct places within the lineup. Maxwell’s entry brings the frontcourt into a series that has already examined Sinclair’s scoring and Ke’Ron Brown’s college contributions.
A roster cannot describe every possession. It can preserve a player’s presence, position, number, and place alongside his teammates.
For Maxwell, the surviving entry supplies all four.
The connection Mikey contributes
Mikey’s firsthand account identifies Maxwell with the Savannah Panthers under Coach Cutter and supplies his SHS connection.
That recollection adds a relationship the high-school roster does not explain: Maxwell and the future Mr CRUSH shared an earlier team identity.
It is an important part of understanding Mikey’s basketball upbringing. His account reaches across school affiliations and follows the people he played with. Maxwell belongs in that account because Mikey remembers him as a teammate.
The published roster then gives readers another place to find his name.
Familiar names, another setting
Seeing Maxwell, Sinclair, and Reid together in the Savannah High tournament publication gives the Panthers recollection additional texture.
Their basketball histories intersected in more than one setting. Mikey identifies the Panthers connection; the 2011 publication documents their shared Savannah High roster. (scoreatl.com)
For readers from that community, those names may prompt recognition. For readers discovering Savannah basketball through CRUSH Magazine, they begin to establish how individual stories connect.
Each player deserves attention within those connections. A team’s history becomes clearer as the people inside it come into view.
Remembering Maxwell individually
Mikey supplied fourteen names when asked about the Panthers. Giving Maxwell his own feature honors the specificity of that recollection.
His introduction now has a documented basketball setting: Savannah High, senior year, center, No. 00.
Alongside it stands the personal connection that brought him into this series in the first place.
Before George Turner became known as Mr CRUSH, he knew Dashean Maxwell as a teammate under Coach Cutter.
