CRUSH Magazine | Plug Not A Rapper

You can recognize someone’s face, follow their page and know their name without having a favorite song from them.

For anyone who knows PartyPlugMikey through Orange Crush, this is the invitation to change that.

Recording under the name Plug Not A Rapper, Mikey has selected “GOOD GOOD,” “LongIslandIcedTea” and “Mikey Tyson” as three records to bring into focus. The starting point is simple: take the name you recognize and attach it to music you have actually spent time with.

Begin with “GOOD GOOD.” Its video offers an immediate way into the release, giving you a viewing destination to share alongside the song.

Move to “LongIslandIcedTea.” Watch its visual, then hear the recording separately. Notice what keeps your attention when the screen is gone and the music has the room to itself.

Then find “Mikey Tyson.” The title brings Mikey’s name directly into the listening experience, turning a familiar cultural reference into an introduction to his own artist persona.

You do not need to know the entire catalog to join the conversation. Start with the three selections and make a choice. Which would you send to a friend? Which belongs in your personal rotation? Which makes you curious about the rest of the project it comes from?

Those are more interesting answers than simply recognizing an artist’s name.

For longtime followers, this is an opportunity to reconnect through the recordings. For first-time listeners, it is a short route into the catalog without having to choose blindly from a full artist page.
