SINCE A BABY. NOW STARTING FOR TUSKEGEE.
Chris Turner’s first collegiate start, 77 minutes, and a 4–1 victory give CRUSH Magazine its introduction to a young defender building his own story.
A start. Seventy-seven minutes. A team victory.
For Christopher “Chris” Turner, October 22 marked a milestone worth remembering. Wearing No. 36, the Tuskegee freshman started against Oakwood in Huntsville, Alabama, and logged 77 minutes as the Golden Tigers earned a 4–1 win. The official match report lists “Chris” among the starters; Tuskegee’s roster identifies No. 36 as Christopher Turner. (athletics.oakwood.edu, goldentigersports.com)
His first start gives this introduction a concrete foundation: substantial time on the field during a winning performance.
And for CRUSH Magazine, it brings a familiar lyric into focus.
“Since a baby I been unanimous.”
The opportunity becomes real
Making a college roster is one milestone. Stepping into the starting lineup creates another responsibility.
Turner’s 77 minutes represented most of the match. Tuskegee built a four-goal lead before halftime and finished with the road victory. Turner’s appearance extended well into the second half, making this a significant assignment rather than a brief late-game introduction. (athletics.oakwood.edu)
For a freshman, there is value in documenting that moment precisely. The date, opponent, minutes, and result become part of the record of his development.
October 22 now holds all four.
Meet Christopher Turner
Tuskegee lists Turner as a freshman defender from McDonough, Georgia, with Eagle’s Landing as his high school. His college introduction follows a soccer background that, according to the family’s account, began at age five and included Atlanta Fire South. (goldentigersports.com)
That longer timeline gives the first start its perspective.
The college audience may be getting to know him now. The journey to this point began years earlier, through youth soccer and high school, before a Tuskegee jersey became part of the picture.
His first start is a new achievement within an established commitment to the game.
A freshman inside a program’s first season
Turner is also entering college soccer at a distinctive moment for his university.
Tuskegee launched its first men’s and women’s soccer programs in 2026, appointing Mathew Tarpley as the inaugural men’s head coach. Turner therefore belongs to the first group of players helping establish the men’s program. (tuskegee.edu)
His individual development is unfolding alongside the team’s beginning.
Every appearance contributes to an opening season that future Tuskegee players will look back on. For Turner, the Oakwood victory places a starting assignment and substantial minutes within that inaugural record.
“Since a baby” gives the moment its soundtrack
George “Mikey” Turner III’s “Mr Unanimous” supplies the creative inspiration for this feature.
“Since a baby I been unanimous” reaches toward the years before public recognition. Applied to Chris’s introduction, it offers a way to think about preparation: an audience sees a college start, while the people who followed his development remember the younger player.
The Travis Hunter postgame reference explored in CRUSH Magazine carries a similar idea. Hunter’s “since I was a baby” response placed a notable professional performance within his longer experience of playing football. (dailymotion.com)
Chris’s milestone stands on its own. The music provides an editorial connection between early beginnings and a new opportunity to perform.
His name, his minutes, his beginning
Within CRUSH Magazine’s wider coverage of athletics, community, and HBCU experiences, Chris Turner deserves an introduction centered on his own work.
The opening details are clear: a freshman defender, a starting role, 77 minutes, and a Tuskegee victory.
There will be more to learn about the player behind those numbers—his development, his approach to defending, and the people who helped him reach college soccer.
For now, the first entry has a date.
October 22, 2026. Tuskegee 4, Oakwood 1. Chris Turner, No. 36: starter.
