November 2026

Southern music has never belonged to just one genre, one city or one type of audience.

Atlanta’s influence on contemporary hip-hop and R&B, Savannah’s musical heritage, Jacksonville’s independent artist community and Miami’s nightlife culture all contribute to a wider Southern entertainment landscape.

For listeners discovering new music, these regional connections offer more than a playlist. They offer a way to understand the people, places and experiences behind the records.

Hip-Hop and R&B Have Always Shared the Party

Hip-hop and R&B frequently meet in the same spaces: concerts, lounges, nightclubs, festivals, homecoming celebrations and road-trip playlists.

A night might begin with melodic R&B, build through rhythmic hip-hop and end with dance records designed to keep the energy moving.

That crossover is part of the creative territory explored by Party Plug Mikey, also known as Plug Not A Rapper.
