THE AUC IS COMING HOME
CRUSH UNIVERSITY™ Returns to Atlanta October 9 as Morehouse, Spelman and the Atlanta University Center Open One of the South’s Most Important Homecoming Weekends
ATLANTA, GEORGIA — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2026
Some Homecomings celebrate a university.
Some celebrate generations.
Welcome to the Atlanta University Center.
Morehouse.
Spelman.
Clark Atlanta.
Historic Black institutions separated by streets, connected by history and surrounded by a city that has helped shape Black politics, business, music, education, activism and culture for generations.
When Homecoming arrives here, people aren’t simply coming back to school.
They’re coming back to something they helped build.
And on Friday, October 9, CRUSH UNIVERSITY™ returns to Atlanta for the beginning of the HBCU stretch of its 2026 College Homecoming Tour.
This one means something different.
MORE THAN HOMECOMING
There is football.
There are parties.
There are tailgates.
There is music.
There is fashion.
There is Greek life.
But underneath all of it sits something deeper:
legacy.
Generations of Black students have passed through these campuses.
Doctors.
Lawyers.
Educators.
Artists.
Executives.
Entrepreneurs.
Athletes.
Activists.
Politicians.
Creators.
Scientists.
Filmmakers.
Musicians.
Parents.
Community leaders.
Homecoming brings pieces of those generations back into the same physical space.
That is why HBCU Homecoming feels different.
The past isn’t watching from a museum.
Sometimes it’s standing beside you at the tailgate.
FRIDAY NIGHT OPENS THE DOOR
Saturday gets the spotlight.
But Friday creates anticipation.
Friends arrive.
Flights land.
Hotels fill.
Outfits come out.
Group chats become physical reunions.
Alumni reconnect.
Students prepare.
Atlanta begins changing.
That’s the opportunity surrounding Friday, October 9.
CRUSH University is positioning the night as an AUC Homecoming Kickoff—a cultural event surrounding the weekend rather than a replacement for the universities’ official programming.
And that distinction matters.
The schools own their traditions.
CRUSH contributes to the surrounding cultural ecosystem.
ATLANTA AGAIN — BUT NOT THE SAME ATLANTA
Seven days earlier, CRUSH University begins at Georgia State.
Now the tour returns to the same city with a completely different cultural environment.
That is one of Atlanta’s greatest strengths.
The city contains multiple college worlds.
Multiple nightlife worlds.
Multiple music scenes.
Multiple generations.
Multiple economies.
Instead of rebuilding everything from zero, CRUSH can deepen relationships already created during Stop One.
Venue relationships.
Photographers.
Videographers.
DJs.
Restaurants.
Hotels.
Transportation partners.
Sponsors.
Promoters.
Production partners.
One market.
Multiple audiences.
That is how a tour begins developing efficiency.
THE HBCU HOMECOMING ECONOMY
Homecoming isn’t only culturally important.
It creates economic activity.
Consider everything surrounding one weekend:
Flights.
Hotels.
Transportation.
Restaurants.
Food trucks.
Clothing.
Hair.
Barbers.
Beauty.
Nails.
Photography.
Videography.
Nightlife.
Tickets.
Alcohol.
Parking.
Merchandise.
Vendors.
Retail.
Tailgates.
Advertising.
Entertainment.
Thousands of individual transactions happen because people came home.
The question CRUSH Magazine wants to ask is:
Who benefits?
KEEP MORE OF THE MONEY IN THE CULTURE
Black culture has enormous commercial value.
The people creating that value should have opportunities to participate in the economics surrounding it.
That means Homecoming should create opportunities for:
Black-owned restaurants.
Student businesses.
Alumni businesses.
Designers.
Barbers.
Stylists.
Beauty entrepreneurs.
Photographers.
Videographers.
Promoters.
DJs.
Artists.
Transportation companies.
Food businesses.
Clothing companies.
Media platforms.
Local venues.
Creators.
CRUSH University wants partnership with those businesses to become part of the tour infrastructure.
Not charity.
Commerce.
THE STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR MATTERS
Somebody at the AUC right now is building something.
Maybe from a dorm.
Maybe from an apartment.
Maybe between classes.
A clothing company.
Beauty brand.
Photography business.
Media platform.
Technology startup.
Food business.
Creative agency.
Music career.
Production company.
Nonprofit.
Personal brand.
The business may look small today.
That doesn’t mean it stays small.
HBCUs have produced generations of people who built institutions far beyond campus.
CRUSH University wants to identify the next generation while they’re still building.
CRUSH UNIVERSITY MARKETPLACE: AUC
Imagine Homecoming commerce connected through one platform.
A student clothing designer gets exposure.
A photographer books clients.
A food entrepreneur finds customers.
A beauty brand distributes samples.
A sponsor funds an activation.
A creator documents it.
CRUSH Magazine tells the story.
The nightlife event introduces another audience.
And merchandise carries the identity afterward.
That’s more powerful than simply selling admission.
That’s an ecosystem.
DIVINE NINE CULTURE
You cannot tell the story of HBCU Homecoming without acknowledging the cultural presence of historically Black fraternities and sororities.
The colors.
The calls.
The strolling.
The step tradition.
The alumni chapters.
The jackets.
The family legacies.
The service.
The history.
The reunions.
Greek life adds another generational layer to Homecoming.
And CRUSH University approaches that culture with respect.
The objective isn’t to commercialize organizations that have their own identities and protected marks.
It’s to recognize the enormous role their members play in shaping the atmosphere surrounding Homecoming.
FASHION BECOMES LANGUAGE
At HBCU Homecoming, clothes talk.
Before somebody introduces themselves, the outfit may have already started the conversation.
Vintage university apparel.
Custom pieces.
Greek paraphernalia.
Designer.
Streetwear.
Sneakers.
Jewelry.
Alumni gear.
Student brands.
Hair.
Beauty.
The fit is part of the experience.
That’s why fashion belongs inside CRUSH University.
Not merely through CRUSH merchandise.
Through editorial coverage.
Street photography.
Designer features.
Student brands.
Creator partnerships.
Limited drops.
Homecoming style deserves documentation.
THE AUC CRUSH DROP
This stop should feel distinct.
Not simply another tour shirt with another city printed underneath it.
The AUC chapter represents the beginning of the HBCU run.
The merchandise should reflect that importance while keeping CRUSH’s own identity at the center.
CRUSH UNIVERSITY™
ATLANTA HOMECOMING WEEKEND
FALL 2026
Limited.
Documented.
Photographed throughout the weekend.
Then the tour moves.
The product becomes a timestamp.
SPONSORS: THIS AUDIENCE DESERVES MORE THAN A LOGO
Companies have spent decades trying to access Black culture.
Homecoming creates an opportunity to do something more meaningful:
contribute to it.
Fund a student-business showcase.
Sponsor free photography.
Provide transportation assistance.
Create a charging lounge.
Provide food.
Support a creator studio.
Offer internships.
Create scholarships.
Provide useful financial education.
Support alumni-owned businesses.
Provide product.
Fund content production.
Sponsor merchandise giveaways.
Create something students would miss if it disappeared.
That is the standard.
HBCU STUDENTS ARE NOT ONE DEMOGRAPHIC
This matters for brands.
There isn’t one HBCU student.
There are engineers.
Artists.
Athletes.
Future physicians.
Musicians.
Business owners.
Gamers.
Fashion creators.
Parents.
Activists.
Future attorneys.
Influencers.
Researchers.
Filmmakers.
People who love nightlife.
People who don’t.
People with enormous audiences.
People who barely use social media.
Treating HBCU culture as a single marketing stereotype misses the point.
The power is in its diversity.
THE CREATOR NETWORK
CRUSH Magazine wants the AUC weekend documented from multiple perspectives.
Not one camera.
A network.
Morehouse photographers.
Spelman photographers.
Clark Atlanta photographers.
Student writers.
Videographers.
Fashion creators.
Hosts.
Interviewers.
DJs.
Artists.
Campus media.
Alumni creators.
The objective is to build a visual archive of the weekend while giving emerging talent something valuable:
distribution.
The creator gets material.
CRUSH gets material.
Partners get material.
Sponsors get material.
Students see themselves represented.
Everyone wins when the relationship is structured correctly.
ONE NIGHT CAN CREATE A YEAR OF RELATIONSHIPS
The October 9 event itself may last several hours.
But consider what can survive it:
A venue relationship.
A sponsor relationship.
A campus ambassador.
A photographer.
A promoter.
A customer.
A clothing collaboration.
A business partnership.
A magazine contributor.
A future employee.
A future artist.
A Spring Tour traveler.
That’s why CRUSH University isn’t measuring success exclusively by attendance.
Attendance matters.
Profit matters.
But so does network expansion.
THEN THE TOUR DOES SOMETHING CRAZY
Saturday morning comes.
And CRUSH moves again.
Not next week.
Not next month.
The next day.
Destination:
ALBANY.
Albany State Homecoming.
Lane College.
2 PM.
South Georgia.
Another HBCU.
Another generation.
Another economy.
Another culture.
That creates one of the most important stretches of the entire fall:
FRIDAY — ATLANTA UNIVERSITY CENTER
↓
SATURDAY — ALBANY STATE
↓
NEXT WEEKEND — SAVANNAH STATE
Three HBCU Homecoming environments.
Three Georgia markets.
Eight days.
THE HBCU RUN
This is where CRUSH University has the opportunity to become more than an event series.
Atlanta introduces the scale.
Albany introduces South Georgia.
Savannah brings the movement to the coast.
Different schools.
Different histories.
Different cities.
But interconnected communities.
Students know students elsewhere.
Alumni travel.
Greek networks cross campuses.
Families have attended multiple HBCUs.
Creators collaborate.
Promoters know each other.
Music travels.
Fashion travels.
Culture travels.
CRUSH should travel with it.
FROM HOMECOMING TO THE COAST
And eventually, the HBCU relationship extends beyond fall.
Spring 2027:
Miami.
Savannah/Tybee.
Atlanta.
Jacksonville.
The same students who meet in Atlanta during Homecoming will travel.
The same alumni networks will move.
The same brands will continue marketing.
The same creators will need content.
The same businesses will seek customers.
CRUSH’s opportunity is to maintain the relationship between seasons.
Fall introduces us.
Spring reunites us.
OCTOBER 9 — ATLANTA
The suits will come out.
The Greek jackets will come out.
The cameras will come out.
The alumni will come home.
The students will show Atlanta what this generation looks like.
Businesses will move.
Music will play.
Old friendships will restart.
New relationships will begin.
And somewhere inside all of it, CRUSH University will begin another chapter.
Not trying to own HBCU Homecoming.
Not pretending to have created the culture.
Doing something more valuable:
participating, partnering, documenting, circulating opportunity and taking the relationships forward.
