Tybee island

From the Orange Crush Family to Tybee Island:

To the Beautiful People of Tybee Island,

On behalf of everyone at Orange Crush—organizers, artists, alumni, students, and supporters—we want to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for the community of Tybee Island.

From our very first steps onto your shores, we have felt the warmth, beauty, and spirit that make Tybee truly special. Your sandy beaches, vibrant sunsets, and welcoming streets have set the stage for memories that will last a lifetime for so many young people, HBCU students, and families. But even more than the landscape, it’s the people—business owners, public servants, volunteers, and lifelong residents—who have shown us what true Southern hospitality and community look like.

We recognize that hosting a large event is never simple, and we want you to know how much we value your patience, your feedback, and your partnership. Our commitment is not only to bring celebration and unity to Tybee Island, but also to be a responsible, positive force—one that listens, gives back, and grows alongside you.

Every year, we strive to do better. We aim to leave your island as beautiful as we found it, to support local businesses, and to create opportunities for all. The spirit of Orange Crush has always been about more than music or parties—it’s about belonging, uplifting one another, and building bridges across communities. None of this would be possible without Tybee Island’s openness and support.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing your home with us. Thank you for your generosity, your patience, and your belief in what is possible when we come together. We look forward to many more years of partnership, progress, and mutual respect.

With gratitude and love,

This is not a pop-up festival. It’s an ecosystem. A year-round engagement strategy tied to education, business, media, and civic leadership.

With that foundation in place, it’s critical that the City of Tybee formally recognizes the leadership responsible for this infrastructure—through an official permit granted to the lawful organizer and trademark holder of Orange Crush Festival.

We are not here today seeking to ‘host an event.’ We are here today to assert our role as the rightful stewards of a cultural institution. One that’s trademarked, organized under a 501(c)(3), and backed by a strategic team with full compliance plans already prepared. Let me now walk you through the core details of the official Orange Crush Festival 2026 permit application.”

Erosion CONTINGENCY plan (draft)

📍

Purpose

To mitigate and respond to potential beach erosion or shoreline instability during festival setup, execution, or breakdown, in coordination with Tybee Island’s coastal management protocols.

🌊

1. Site Assessment & Monitoring

Pre-Festival (30–7 days before):

  • Conduct walk-throughs of the designated beach zone with City of Tybee Public Works or Coastal Resources Division reps.

  • Identify and document:

    • Areas of visible erosion

    • Sand dune disturbances

    • High-tide lines and irregular beach profiles

During Festival (Daily):

  • On-site environmental safety coordinator conducts morning and evening assessments.

  • Real-time updates are shared with the Festival Command Center.

Post-Festival (Within 72 hours):

  • Submit post-use erosion report to city officials including photos, staff notes, and any observed worsening conditions.

🏗️

2. Infrastructure Placement & Safeguards

  • No structures or barricades will be placed directly on dunes or vegetation.

  • Stage, tents, fencing, and waste stations will be installed only on pre-approved zones based on tide and erosion data.

  • All heavy equipment delivery (e.g., tents, fencing) must use protective ground mats or beach-friendly tires to prevent rutting or shifting sand.

🛠️

3. Mitigation Materials On-Site

The following resources will be available at all times:

  • Sandbags (300+ units) for emergency shoring or structural support

  • Erosion control mats (biodegradable) to temporarily stabilize impacted areas

  • Temporary fencing to cordon off unstable sections of beach or dunes

🚧

4. Rapid Response Protocol

If erosion is detected or worsens during the festival:

  1. Halt all activity in the affected area immediately.

  2. Notify city liaison and environmental response lead.

  3. Deploy sandbags and temporary barriers as directed.

  4. Relocate affected infrastructure (e.g., tents, sponsor booths) to backup locations shown in approved Site Plan B (attached).

  5. Communicate shift to patrons and staff using megaphones, signage, and staff walkie coordination.

♻️

5. Environmental Stewardship Integration

  • No water runoff from tents or stations will be directed toward dunes or unstable zones.

  • Attendees will be restricted from walking or gathering near dunes, with visible signage and security enforcement.

  • A beach restoration contribution fund (5% of sponsorship proceeds) will be donated to the Tybee Island Beach Maintenance or Coastal Protection Program.

🧾

6. Documentation & Compliance

  • A copy of this erosion plan will be filed with:

    • Tybee Public Works

    • City Event Coordinator

    • Coastal Resources Division (if applicable)

  • Daily logs, erosion photos, and response actions will be compiled into the official Post-Festival Environmental Compliance Report.
