Community Policing & Public Safety Engagement
Building Trust. Ensuring Safety. Uplifting the Culture.
At Orange Crush Festival, we believe in the power of positive police presence and community-centered public safety. Our approach is rooted in mutual respect, transparency, and collaboration between law enforcement, community leaders, college students, and local residents.
This tab is dedicated to showcasing our shared commitment to:
Promoting a safe and welcoming environment across all festival zones
Fostering meaningful relationships between police, students, and citizens
Highlighting outreach, military appreciation, and local recruitment efforts
Offering real-time safety updates, shuttle access info, and emergency response transparency
🔷 Community Engagement with Law Enforcement:
We actively partner with:
Tybee Island Police Department – Chief Hayes leads with a commitment to positive event-based policing, college outreach, and military service appreciation.
Savannah Police Department & Campus Police – Trusted partners with boots on the ground around Savannah State University and Downtown corridors.
Chatham County Sheriff’s Office – Sheriff John T. Wilcher & Sheriff Coleman’s teams are dedicated to countywide safety, hospitality, and event guidance.
Georgia State Patrol – Serving as traffic safety leaders from city routes to the beach shoreline.
💙 Police + Community = Partnership, Not Policing
We believe police presence should reflect the spirit of the event—not disrupt it. That’s why our safety teams are briefed on cultural understanding, student dynamics, and community-first protocols. Through joint patrols, foot patrol units, and public service booths, officers are encouraged to:
Take photos with students
Offer resources instead of punishment
Recruit new cadets from HBCUs and military veterans
Promote driving safety (Don’t Drink & Drive, Click it or Ticket campaigns)
We host:
“Coffee with a Cop” style pop-ups
Veteran and Military Appreciation Walks
Live safety briefings and ride-alongs with city officials
🚨 Security Infrastructure Includes:
15+ uniformed event security on foot at beach entry zones
10+ mobile traffic and emergency response units
Coordinated EMS, ADA Access, and Real-Time Radio Dispatch
Beach cleanup & safety volunteers patrolling post-festival hours
Shuttles. Ubers. Officers. All working together.
SECURITY. POLICE. EMERGENCY RESPONSE. BEACH CLEAN UP.
